Goals of the Team:
The purpose of the Lane Tech Ultimate Frisbee Team is to grow as Ultimate players, teammates, compete at tournaments, and to advance the spirit of the game. This is a competitive team that will participate in practices, league games, and tournaments, but we will also practice good sportsmanship and be supportive and good teammates. We want to win when we play, but also be silly and enjoy our teammates and opponents at the same time. The culmination of the year will be the High State Championship tournament on June 1st / 2nd in Montgomery Illinois.
Practices:
Practices will be on Monday and Wednesdays at Horner Park starting March 2nd. We will meet by the stadium and walk to Horner together. We will work on skills, including throwing, cutting, and offensive and defensive strategy. Practices will always conclude in a some sort of game, depending on numbers each day.
CUJO (Chicago Ultimate Juniors Organization):
CUJO games are weekly games against other local high schools. They will be almost all Sundays from 10am - 2pm at Schiller Woods. See the calendar for the exact dates. This will be our opportunity to utilize the skills we have learned in practice and where we will bond as a team.
Tournaments:
Neuqua Knockout - April 25/26 Joliet, IL
CJO Tournament - May 10th Schiller Woods
State Qualifier - May 16 or 17th location TBD
State Tournament - May 30th location TBD
It is expected that everyone on the team make the tournaments. They are both days of the weekend and range in times from 9am - 5pm (Sunday usually ends earlier). They are long weekends, but tournaments are when you fall in love with the game. Ask a returner and they will tell you all about them.
Costs:
$65, which covers tournament fees, and administration costs for the team.
$55 for jerseys, one white, one black. If you are a returner, then you do not have to get a new jersey, but you are more than welcomed to order extras. Or you can order shorts or a reversible tank this year.
Dues are important so that we can compete and travel. We try to keep the costs to a minimum, but there are expenses throughout the season. If you feel that you would like to contribute more than the $65, please do so at checkout in the store.
At no point do we want individuals to not play due to money, so if you are on free and reduced lunch, or you do not feel that you can afford the dues, then please fill out the scholarship form on the scholarship page. Ultimate is a sport for everyone!
